Your Comfort and Convenience Count
The Surgery Center is a new facility designed with patients in mind. Staff members are committed to helping patients prepare for and recover from surgery. For example, nurses encourage patients to make appointments for preadmission testing. For the convenience of patients, appointments may take place prior to the day of surgery.

"Preadmission nurses spend one-on-one time with patients to review their medications, answer their questions and make sure they get any preoperative testing they need," says Lisa Thomas, RN, BSN, Director of Surgical Services at LWRMC. "Patients may schedule day or evening appointments, or they may preregister over the phone."

On the day of their procedures, patients may expect:

• Convenient access.
• Personal attention -- Nurses greet patients in the waiting room and stay with them before and after surgery.
• Simplified paperwork -- Staff members interview patients and enter information electronically for speed and accuracy.
• Calm, quiet atmosphere -- The center has a new and attractive décor, complete with many of the comforts of home, including warm blankets, recliners, flat-screen televisions, private dressing areas and even a Starbucks coffee shop.

"Our patient satisfaction rates for surgery are higher than national averages," Dr. Golino says. "Patients who undergo procedures at the center have very good results. We're proud and appreciative of the way the community has received us."
